PSBO17 is an AHA sanctioned, BJCP registered competition, and the final competition of the Carolinas Brewer of the Year (CBoY) circuit.
Entries
Registration is now open and will close on November 21st. PSBO17 accepts entries in all categories of beer, mead and cider (based upon 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines). Entries are $7.00 each and payment must accompany the entry. Checks should be made to: Palmetto State Brewers. All entries must be entered on-line. They must be received by the cellarmaster by November 25, unless other specific arrangements are made with him.
Entrants may send in an unlimited number of entries, however they are restricted to one entry per sub-category except for categories 20A (Fruit Beer), 21A (Spice, Herb and Vegetable Beer), and 23A (Specialty Beer). Style categories may be combined, as deemed necessary by the registrar for judging and awards.
Historically PSBO has received large number of entries in some style categories (APA, IPA, Stout, Porter, Spice Vegetable and Herb, and some Belgians) and judging may include a mini Best of Show for the flights. Entrants who are competing for awards/ribbons in those categories are advised to send 3 bottles per entry.

It is illegal to ship alcohol via the USPS.
Judging
Competition judging will take place at Krafty Draft Brew Pub, on December 5th. A judging session is also planned for the evening of Friday, Dec 4, beginning 6:30-7:00. BJCP judges will receive an additional 0.5 experience point for this session. Please tell us if you want to judge Friday, Include the information on your registration or email psbo17@sagecat.com .
Judges and stewards must register through this website with or without entries in the competition. No prior experience required for stewards. Individuals with no judging experience in a BJCP competition should sign up to steward. An individual who has served as a steward at a BJCP competition but has minimal experience judging should signup as a novice or apprentice judge.
Judges and stewards should plan on arriving at the competition site by 8:00 AM on Saturday. On the day of the competition if you are lost, delayed, or find you cannot participate please call (803) 603-3816 to let us know or to get directional counseling.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. A charity raffle will be held during the Best of Show judging.
